DirecTV Hospitality, Google enter strategic relationship

DirecTV Hospitality and Google TV have entered into a new strategic relationship to integrate the business-to-business version of Google TV’s Android TV operating system into DirecTV’s Advanced Entertainment Platform (AEP). Full deployment is expected in 2026.

The AEP is DirectTV’s customizable in-room entertainment solution, offering guests access to live TV, popular streaming apps and on-demand content—similar to the way they watch programming at home.

Through the integration, guests will be able to access a broader selection of curated streaming apps such as Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Apple TV and YouTube. The platform will also include secure personal account integration using QR code authentication and automatic daily clearing of guest information to protect privacy. Additionally, Google Cast will enable guests to stream content, photos and music directly from their personal devices to in-room TVs.

“Today’s hospitality guests expect the same personalized entertainment experiences in the guest room that they enjoy at home,” said Doug Eichler, SVP, DirecTV Hospitality. “This relationship with Google allows us to integrate premier consumer streaming experiences into our Advanced Entertainment Platform, which helps us continue to deliver value for both guests and hotel owners and operators alike.”

Shalini Govil-Pai, VP/GM, TV platforms, Google, added, “Entering the business-to-business market with DirecTV allows us to bring the market-leading TV OS to the hospitality industry.”
