Wilson Associates Names Design Director

Interior architectural design firm Wilson Associates has hired Patrick Fung as design director for its Shanghai studio. With more than 15 years of international experience as an interior designer and U.K.-registered architect, Fung specializes in high-end fit-outs for luxury residential and hospitality architecture and interiors. He joined the Wilson team in December.

“Patrick’s deep global awareness and bespoke design approach will make him an extremely valuable member of our Shanghai team,” says Lei Berger, managing director, Wilson’s Shanghai office. “It’s already been an exciting year for Wilson Associates, and we’re looking forward to seeing Fung’s creativity flourish and his impressive portfolio expand alongside the company’s continued expansion in the region.”

Fung’s portfolio spans Europe and Asia, including projects such as One Hyde Park in London; The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Kuala Lumpur; and JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar. Joining a team of international designers, Fung draws energy from the city of Shanghai, striking a balance between creative and technical solutions in each of his designs.

“I am honored to be able to work with such a talented team and develop my skills further at Wilson Associates,” said Fung. “I am most excited to have the opportunity to champion groundbreaking projects with industry-leading designers in this new role.”

As design director, Fung will be intimately involved in each stage of design, managing both the internal team and the client relationship throughout the course of a project. He will be responsible for bringing visions to light through a holistic, integrated and timeless approach that responds to the specific nuances of a project’s target demographic as well as its location, history, culture, budget and schedule.

“The value of good design is a timeless lesson that I learned from my mentors and I hope I can pass that on to young designers who I have the pleasure to be working with,” added Fung, who is currently working on designs for InterContinental Hotels Group’s Even Hotels brand, as well as a hot spring resort in Fuzhou and a family villa for a private client.
