What’s in the Works?

NATIONAL REPORT—Hotels are setting roots. With projects in Colorado cities and a boutique property in Wisconsin, here’s a look at hotels in development:

Hyatt House Breaks Ground in Aurora, CO
Denver-based BMC Investments (BMC), in partnership with Chattanooga, TN-based Vision Hospitality Group Inc., has broken ground on a 140-key extended-stay Hyatt House hotel at the Fitzsimons Medical Campus in Aurora, which will include 8,000 sq. ft. of ground level retail. The project is anticipated to take 17 months to complete. BMC acquired the property, which is located at the southeast corner of Colfax and Peoria—also known as the Gateway at Fitzsimons—in 2013. The project will be one of the first opportunity zone projects in the Denver metro area to break ground. The Hyatt House hotel will be managed by Vision Hospitality Group. The 8,000 sq. ft. on the ground floor will focus on convenience retail and restaurants.

Vib Continues Expansion With Denver Location
Best Western Hotels & Resorts celebrated the upcoming arrival of its urban, upscale boutique brand, Vib, with a groundbreaking ceremony in Denver. Vib currently has 16 properties in the North America pipeline, and Vib Denver will be joining locations in Springfield, MO; Bangkok, Thailand; and Antalya, Turkey. The 140-room Vib Denver will be in “RiNo,” the River North Art District with growth in recent years as technology and start-up companies continually move into the area. Anticipated to open in December 2020, the RiNo Vib will have 2,000 sq. ft. of conference space, a fitness center and food and beverage options.

Golf Course Property Coming to Wisconsin
Sentry has plans to build a boutique hotel at SentryWorld, its destination golf course in Stevens Point, WI. It’s scheduled to open in the spring of 2021. The hotel will be built just off the championship golf course’s 18th fairway. The hotel will have suites and gathering spaces. Swaback Architects, which designed the reimagined SentryWorld complex in 2013, will design the hotel. J.H. Findorff & Son, which built the new Sentry office last year in Stevens Point, will oversee construction. Sentry will break ground on the project by the spring of 2020.
