Web Exclusive: New York hotel offers options for four-legged friends

INNSiDE by Meliá New York Nomad, Meliá Hotels International (MHI)’s flagship New York City property, has partnered with pet product company Paw.com to offer cozy stays for guests’ fur babies.

“INNSiDE by Meliá New York Nomad and Paw.com decided to team up to enhance the hotel’s current pet and Day Stay programs, offering a cozier, more comfortable stay for its four-legged guests,” said Mauricio Patino, general manager, INNSiDE by Meliá New York Nomad. “Both brands are dog-lovers—INNSiDE by Meliá New York Nomad offering pet-friendly rooms and Paw.com designing and manufacturing innovative premium quality products that pets love.”

The pet package applies to pets up to 30 pounds for a one-time fee of $100 per room, per stay.

For increased pup comfort, Paw.com has supplied the hotel with faux fur, human-grade memory foam and machine-washable PupRug pet bed and matching waterproof and scratch-proof PupProtector throw blanket to its pet-friendly rooms.

“Guests travel with pets because they are truly part of the family,” Patino said. “Pet parents want to enjoy special moments with their pets, including being pampered in a spacious hotel room. It often ends up being far less expensive to bring the pet along on trips, rather than board them, and the pet is more comfortable and less anxious if they can stay with their family.”

In the hotel’s public spaces, outdoor patios now include all-season PupLounge outdoor beds, made with pressure-relieving and breathable shredded memory foam to keep pets cool, especially useful for those hot NYC summer days.

The hotel will also include an exclusive Paw.com discount for guests to order their own pet products following their stay. Additionally, guests have the opportunity to shop Paw.com at the hotel’s concierge gift shop, including its all-natural Marlie Mist pet odor eliminator spray.

“Our partners at Paw.com have predicted an increase in pet travel products that make road trips, vacations and staycations easier than ever before,” Patino said. “They’re ahead of the game and have already added additions to their travel line, including memory foam car beds and portable roll-up orthopedic dog beds for those that are truly ‘on-the-go.’”

The pet package can be applied to the property’s Day Stay program, which allows for remote work use of the guestrooms and access to hotel services. The Day Stay program includes use of a full room with a work area, complimentary WiFi, refreshments, a desk and chair and INNSiDE PPE kits including gloves and hand sanitizer, access to the hotel gym and public spaces.

Patino said that the hotel is always looking for ways to expand guest offerings and that the Paw.com partnership could potentially include new products as they roll out. Patino added that they’re also interested in expanding this partnership to sister properties within MHI.

“It is no secret that the pandemic has seen an increase in new and first-time pet ownership,” Patino said. “With the lines between work, home and play becoming increasingly blurred, we’re seeing more guests opting to work remotely from hotels, and include their pets in all of their travels.”
