Southern Lodging Summit sets panels, speakers

Officials of the Southern Lodging Summit (SLS), an annual hotel conference focusing on development and operations throughout the southern United States, have released its initial list of panels and speakers for its upcoming gathering. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the conference will be held Aug. 23-24 at the newly renovated Renasant Convention Center in Memphis.

“For the past two decades, the Southern Lodging Summit has been the ‘go-to’ conference for hoteliers interested in learning more about and expanding their networks in the Southern United States,” said Wayne Tabor, president/CEO, Metropolitan Memphis Hotel & Lodging Association. “We’ve been fortunate to host some of the biggest names in the industry, including such luminaries as John Q. Hammons, Colin Reed, Mike Leven and Roger Dow from such hospitality leaders as Hilton, Marriott, Choice and IHG. As we celebrate 20 years, we will continue to seek and provide the best educational and networking opportunities that Southern hospitality can provide.”

This year’s conference will feature such annual favorites as “Industry Trends and Forecasting the Data,” “Legislative Update Panel,” “Investment Panel,” and “Visionary Viewpoints.” Mark Carrier, president, B.F. Saul Company, has been selected as the keynote speaker.

All proceeds from the event go to a local PAC, the AHLA Hotel PAC and the Hospitality Tennessee PAC.
