Soul Community Planet, WE Launch Well-Being Partnership

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA—Soul Community Planet (SCP)—founded on the values of wellness (Soul), kindness (Community) and sustainability (Planet)—has partnered with the WE organization to encourage well-being and at its hotels. With properties in Colorado Springs, CO; Redmond, OR; and Depoe Bay, OR, SCP will now have the opportunity to expand guest and member wellness offerings.

SCP has always promoted fitness, healthy plant-based food options and enhanced sleep environments, but through the partnership, it will now support positive mindsets and stress reduction, contributing to guests’ mental well-being.

“We have a strong cultural fit with WE,” said Ken Cruse, co-founder/CEO of SCP. “Both of our organizations are founded on doing good.”

Cruse said that when a guest stays at an SCP Hotel or signs on for a monthly membership, SCP will donate to the WE Well-being program, which provides youth, educators and families free well-being tools and resources.

“WE Well-being supports all facets of wellness (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social and environmental). Both of our organizations appreciate that joy, gratitude and well-being are interdependent. Our intent for the partnership is to not only improve the lives of people in our communities, but also the wellness of our guests through the good they are creating by choosing to stay with SCP,” Cruse added.

According to the CEO, SCP will place the WE Well-being Playbook—a guide on how to nurture one’s own mental well-being and the well-being of others—in every guestroom, as well as provide socially conscious ME to WE products for purchase in its marketplaces. SCP will also offer ME to WE fair-trade-certified coffee exclusively in its SCP Commons co-working spaces.

Even prior to opening its inaugural property in Colorado Springs in 2018, SCP has supported the WE organization and its efforts. Specifically, to support the community of Enoosoito in rural Kenya, SCP guests have had an opportunity to purchase beaded ME to WE Bracelets handmade by a woman in this area. For both companies, it’s about empowering people to support themselves and their loved ones.

“Health and wellness is a way of living healthy and taking care of one’s physical and emotional needs,” Cruse said. “With all of the challenges of today’s world, nurturing the well-being of ourselves and our communities has never been more critical. As hoteliers, it is incumbent upon us to promote those aspects of healthy living for our guests in everything we do—from the room the guest stays in, the bed they sleep in and offering mindful activities such as morning yoga class and providing menus that focus on vegan and healthy dining.”

As for the future of the partnership, SCP will offer more WE products in its marketplaces and continue to mutually support each other in promoting both physical and mental wellness.

“SCP is fundamentally about doing good: good for one’s self, good for others and good for the planet,” Cruse said. “We call this ‘Holistic Hospitality.’”
