Six U.S. Hotel Projects Underway

NATIONAL REPORT—New-builds are underway across the country. From beach resorts to urban downtown properties, the country is seeing some new properties in bustling markets.

Rosewood to Open in Houston

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has been selected by McNair Interests to manage a new, luxury hotel in Houston. Set to open in 2023, the 150-room hotel will be Rosewood’s second in Texas and its ninth in the United States. The Rosewood hotel will be located in a mixed-use and high-rise development led by McNair Interests, managed by the Patrinely Group and designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP. In addition to the hotel, the six-acre site will include 80 luxury residences atop the hotel with multi-family residences. The hotel will have two distinct dining venues, including a full-service restaurant and an outdoor pool bar. Guests will also have access to Sense, a Rosewood Spa, a fitness center and meeting and event space.

Canopy by Hilton Expands to Dallas
Canopy by Hilton Dallas Uptown is scheduled to open in late June. The 150-room hotel is near more than 100 shops, restaurants and entertainment options. Canopy by Hilton Dallas Uptown is owned and developed by The Javelin Group and managed by Aimbridge Hospitality.

JV Breaks Ground on Hampton Inn & Suites Capitol View in Nashville, TN

Chartwell Hospitality LLC and Rockbridge are breaking ground on the 169-room Hampton Inn & Suites Capitol View, located in downtown Nashville’s North Gulch urban district. Construction on the 10-story hotel is expected to complete by fall 2019The hotel will have 4,000 sq. ft. of meeting space and a rooftop bar and pool.

Chartwell and Rockbridge are investing in and will co-develop the hotel, which is the firms’ second hotel deal together. Rockbridge currently owns the Hilton Garden Inn in Nashville’s SoBro neighborhood, which Chartwell developed and manages.

TPI Hospitality and Margaritaville to Develop Resort in Fort Myers Beach, FL

TPI Hospitality and Margaritaville Holdings have entered into a partnership to develop a new 254-room Margaritaville Resort in Fort Myers Beach, FL slated to open for Q1 2021.

Each guestroom will have a private balcony. In addition, the resort will serve signature Margaritaville Food & Beverage concepts and have a  22,000-sq.-ft. License to Chill Terrace and a 5,000-sq.-ft. ballroom.

TTRG Brings Dual Branded Hotel to Fishers District in Indiana

Thompson Thrift Retail Group (TTRG) is working with Dunn Hospitality Group to bring the dual branded Hyatt Place and Hyatt House to The Yard at Fishers District . Dunn anticipates the completion of the hotel to be 15 months from the start of construction and will plan to hire approximately 50 employees for the completed project. This concept incorporates the two different hotels within a single six-story building of 211 rooms.

Both the Hyatt Place (125 rooms) and Hyatt House (86 rooms) will have free WiFi throughout the building with remote printing, free breakfast, a full-service restaurant with room service and bar open in the evenings, on- site laundry, an indoor pool, 24-hour StayFit Gym and up to 3,000 sq. ft. of shared flexible meeting space. The extended stay rooms of the Hyatt House will also offer a fully equipped kitchen. 

White Lodging to Open Hampton Inn & Suites in Fort Wayne, IN

White Lodging broke ground on Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Fort Wayne Downtown, expected to open in the summer of 2019. More than 25% of the hotel’s 136 guestrooms will be suites. The hotel will also have a walk up Burger Bar restaurant and an indoor/outdoor rooftop bar with views of Parkview Field and downtown Fort Wayne.

The hotel will offer the brand’s signature amenities including free hot breakfast, complimentary WiFi, a 24-hour business center and rooftop fitness center. All guestrooms and suites will include HDTV and free in-room movie channels.
