Shazmah Hakim named Remington chief legal officer

Hotel management company Remington Hospitality has welcomed Shazmah Hakim as chief legal officer.

She brings more than two decades of experience to the company and has a background in hospitality, operations and law. In her new role, she will help guide Remington into its next phase of growth and ensure efficient and effective legal processes are developed and implemented to support company initiatives, the company reports.

As chief legal officer, she oversees all efforts across the legal department. She will be entrusted with providing legal counsel to senior management, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and representing the company’s interests in legal proceedings and negotiations.

At Remington Hospitality, Hakim will continue to foster trust and collaboration within the legal department and across the organization as a whole, contributing to the company’s ongoing success, it reported.

“There is nothing more fulfilling and energizing than working with a company during a time of growth,” said Hakim. “I am excited to begin this journey with the Remington Hospitality team. My vision is for the law department to be a strong and trusted partner in facilitating this next chapter for Remington while protecting its interests.”

Hakim began her hospitality law career at Marriott International, where she played a role in overseeing all operating hotels in the U.K., Ireland, the Middle East and Africa. She then joined Kingdom Hotels Ltd. in Dubai, where she served as SVP/general counsel and guided the company through its expansion into emerging markets before returning to Marriott to fulfill a similar role. In this leadership position, she heavily supported the company’s global loyalty, marketing, branding, sales and consumer initiatives.
