Say Om: Edition Brings Meditation into the Guestroom With Inscape

INTERNATIONAL REPORT—Health and wellness offerings are surely becoming mainstay features in hotels, and while many guests will think of spas and fitness, Edition Hotels is shedding light on a lesser adopted form of wellness: meditation.

Edition has partnered with Inscape, a meditation app created by Intermix founder/former CEO Khajak Keledjian, that aims to remove any doubts or misconceptions about meditation.

“The biggest misconception about meditation is that people think they’re doing it wrong,” said Ben Pundole, VP of brand experience for Edition. “There is no wrong. It’s simply a time to sit and reflect, to be still and focus on breathing and being. It’s a daily reset, a way of allowing happiness in and melting the stress away.”

Edition hotels across the globe offer four unique, in-room and on-demand meditation experiences, each to suit different types of people and lifestyles.

“Uplifting to help you start the day to calming and relaxing to help you sleep at night, it’s a great way to find some peace amongst the chaos,” Pundole said.

More specifically, the experiences range in time and purpose:

Travel Gently is a 10-minute guided meditation to heighten awareness and expand happiness; Dream Journey is a 20-minute guided relaxation experience meant to drift the listener into sleep; Reset & Restore is an under-10-minute guided mantra experience to beat jet lag; and Tranquil Evening: Breathe Deep is three minutes of guided breath work to calm and relax the mind.

“Edition prides itself on being a sophisticated, passionate and exciting brand that focuses on everything from art, film, fashion, food, cocktails and wellness,” Pundole noted. “We know that Inscape is the very best in its field and believe we have the same guest.”

According to the VP, these experiences are for all kinds of travelers—ranging from leisure to business—and can especially help those with stressful travel schedules.

“It’s very important to have a sense of grounding and calmness, especially when traveling, and there’s no better way to find it than through an Inscape meditation,” he said.  “Guests should try them all throughout their stay. They’re easy to follow, enjoyable and will set you off in the right direction.”

The partnership will offer guests two months of complimentary access to the Inscape: Meditation & Sleep app following their stay, and Pundole said they’re currently discussing ways to expand on the partnership.

“Meditation is for everyone. Inscape makes it easy for beginners and a welcome comfort for the advanced; I suggest everyone try it,” Pundole said. “Inscape meditation makes it easy for the guest, taking out any of the misconceptions about meditation. It’s something we should all be doing to help keep our busy lives on track, to keep our minds settled and allow the happiness to flow.”
