People on the Move at ISC, Commonwealth and OpenKey

NATIONAL REPORT—Hospitality and affiliate companies have made additions and promotions. Here’s a look:

Ian Schrager Company Appoints Olson CMO
Ian Schrager Company (ISC) has named Chelsea Olson chief marketing officer.

Olson joins ISC with more than 10 years of extensive experience in hospitality and marketing. Her career has spanned from media and editorial to public relations, communications and branding.

Olson oversaw all marketing at Edition Hotel’s flagship property in Miami for four years as part of the opening team. She has been an integral part of the Edition team, having worked on hotel openings in Barcelona, New York’s Clocktower and Times Square.

Since leaving Edition in 2018, Olson started her marketing consultancy, working on a variety of consulting projects in the lifestyle and hospitality sector whilst she has also contributed to Miami-based publications including DiningOut Magazine and Miami New Times.

She brings her creative marketing knowledge, along with her understanding of ISC’s brands, Public Hotels and Edition Hotels, to develop memorable experiences, share ISC’s brand stories and execute Schrager’s vision.

Commonwealth Promotes Hoelscher to Field Director of Sales
Commonwealth Hotels has promoted Mike Hoelscher to the position of field director of sales and marketing.

The 30-year hospitality veteran is tasked with driving hotel revenues through innovative sales, revenue management and marketing strategies. He will lead his property sales teams in Commonwealth properties located throughout Ohio and Indiana.

He joined Commonwealth in August 2020 as a task force sales manager. While helping sales efforts at hotels in Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati markets, he quickly proved himself a perfect candidate for the new position in the expanding company, the company reports.

He has served in various positions both on and off-property with Marriott International during his career. First serving as a front office supervisor, he worked his way up to a senior manager of Marriott’s top line service + support team, where he worked with more than 200 franchise companies on 500-plus hotels to help drive top-line revenue.

Owens Named CEO at OpenKey
OpenKey has named Ron Owens the company’s new CEO.

Owens has more than 25 years’ experience in software development with a focus on creating innovative products, custom applications and SaaS solutions. Prior to joining OpenKey, Owens worked at companies such as Aria Solutions, Intervoice, and EDS, where he went through the system engineering development program. Additionally, while working at companies such as Bank of America, First Data and Nortel, he developed and leveraged his expertise in operations and systems implementation. Within these enterprises, he was responsible for managing the design, development, and project management of contact centers and messaging solutions for the Americas.
