People on the move at Dream Hotel Group and NHG

Dream Hotel Group has tapped Laura Mutterperl to become its new chief legal officer, while Newport Hospitality Group has a new VP, operations.

Dream Hotel Group has promoted Laura Mutterperl to the newly created position of chief legal officer.

Mutterperl has more than 15 years of experience in driving hotel business and legal strategy. She joined Dream Hotel Group in 2017 as EVP/general counsel and has played a key role in advancing the company’s growth and success, which includes drafting more than 40 new hotel management agreements, the opening of four new hotels in the U.S. and the anticipated openings of three new locations in Doha; Qatar; Belgium; and The Catskills, NY in 2022.

As chief legal officer, she maintains executive oversight of all legal issues for Dream Hotel Group and its growing portfolio of brands, including its Dream Hotels, Unscripted Hotels, The Chatwal and new By Dream Hotel Group collection. She will continue to work closely with senior leadership on driving new development deals, improving hotel operations, entering international markets and maximizing efficiencies and profitability for all independent Dream Hotel Group properties worldwide.

Mutterperl joined Dream Hotel Group from Starwood Hotels and Resorts where she worked for several years in various positions after a stint in the corporate department of Kirkland & Ellis.

Mark Hoefling named VP, operations at Newport Hospitality Group
Hotel management company Newport Hospitality Group Inc. (NHG) has appointed Mark Hoefling as VP, operations.

He brings strong equity partner relations and sales operational expertise from his hospitality career spanning two decades. He was previously the COO for American Hospitality Management Inc., where he was central to strengthening revenue and developing distribution strategies. Prior to that, he spent 13 years with IHG Hotels & Resorts overseeing leading brands and major owned assets in North America.

In his new position, he will initially focus on working with NHG leadership, on-property teams and hotel ownership to develop short-term and long-term financial and operational plans which support the overall objectives of the company.
