The Pantone Color Institute has named Mocha Mousse, “a warming, brown hue imbued with richness,” its color of the year for 2025.
“Underpinned by our desire for everyday pleasures, Pantone 17-1230 Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director, Pantone Color Institute. “Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic, Pantone 17-1230 Mocha Mousse extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe.”
The company described the color as a “versatile shade infused with inherent sophistication and earthy refinement, that creates a strong chromatic foundation, complementing diverse applications, both minimalist and richly decorated, across design and all color conscious industries.”
Laurie Pressman, VP, Pantone Color Institute, added, “For Pantone Color of the Year 2025, we look to a mellow brown hue whose inherent richness and sensorial and comforting warmth extends further into our desire for comfort, and the indulgence of simple pleasures that we can gift and share with others.”
Textile company Ultrafabrics collaborated with Pantone on the decision. “We are thrilled to collaborate with Pantone once again for the Color of the Year 2025,” said Jennifer Hendren, VP, product development, Ultrafabrics. “This year’s color embodies harmony and balance, aligning perfectly with Ultrafabrics’ commitment to creating interiors that inspire sensorial comfort and connection. Its timeless beauty and calming essence resonate deeply with our philosophy of redefining luxury through mindful design. This color reminds us of the power of simplicity and the joy of everyday moments, and we can’t wait to see how it transforms spaces across industries.”
Central to this year’s theme is “Simple Pleasures,” a design philosophy that celebrates the beauty of slowing down and savoring quiet moments, brought to life through soothing colors and soft textures. The partnership will feature Simple Pleasures, an exclusive color palette by Ultrafabrics, along with interactive events and bespoke color customization across the brand’s extensive range of vegan leathers.
