INTERNATIONAL REPORT—South America is seeing new hotel activity, including the coming debuts of the InterContinental and Hotel Indigo brands in Peru.
InterContinental and Hotel Indigo Brands Coming to Peru
IHG will debut both the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts and Hotel Indigo brands in Peru, with two new properties now under construction in the capital city of Lima.
The Hotel Indigo Lima Miraflores will also be the brand’s first property in South America. Both hotels are expected to open in early 2022 and will be owned by Inmobiliaria Vistamar and managed by IHG.
The InterContinental Lima Miraflores and Hotel Indigo Lima Miraflores will be located next to each other in the epicenter of Miraflores, steps away from Larcomar, the city’s commercial center.

The InterContinental Lima Miraflores will rise 20 stories and have 322 guestrooms, including 29 suites, a fine-dining restaurant, two bars with a rooftop lounge, a spa and fitness center. The property will also offer its exclusive Club InterContinental lounge, meeting space and will include the largest outdoor hotel pool in Lima.
The Hotel Indigo Lima Miraflores will be a boutique hotel with 76 guestrooms, including six luxury suites, an upscale, locally inspired restaurant and bar, and a fitness center. Additionally, the hotel will offer gardens for guests of both hotels for outdoor functions and will include underground parking with street access to the area’s main thoroughfare on Alcanfores St. Fuenzalida & Swinburn Architect and Associates is the project architect and German Margozzini – Arquitectura Diseño Interior Hospitality Spa is overseeing the hotels’ interior design and decor.
Park Inn by Radisson Opens New Hotel in Vallenar, Chile
Park Inn by Radisson Los Olivos de Vallenar has opened in Chile.
The hotel has 60 guestrooms and suites and offers access to an on-site fitness center, business center, outdoor pool and free WiFi, as well as on-site free parking. Additionally, the hotel has multifunctional and flexible meeting spaces for guests looking to host social gatherings or corporate meetings. There are two meeting spaces that can accommodate up to 40 people in each room.
Laureles Suites Opens in Medellín, Colombia
Lifeafar, a real estate investment and hospitality firm, has opened Laureles Suites in Medellín, Colombia.
The property is a premium apartment-hotel, offering furnished and designed apartments in the residential heart of the Laureles neighborhood, with a second building expected to follow later this summer. The property is located west of downtown Medellín, close to the Boulevard de la 70, which has a variety of shopping destinations by day and nightlife after dark.
Laureles Suites resides in the two-story Casa Esquina offering one-bedroom apartments ranging in size from 466 sq. ft. to 1,189 sq. ft. with space for two to six adults. Additional units are expected with the completion of the two-story Casa Patio, which will include a one-bedroom, two two-bedroom, and one three-bedroom apartment.
