HITEC San Antonio To Proceed as Scheduled

AUSTIN, TX—Despite the postponement of HITEC Europe 2020 until further notice, HITEC San Antonio will proceed as scheduled, according to show presenter Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP).

HITEC Europe was scheduled to take place April 21-23, 2020, in Palma, Mallorca, Spain. “This decision was made in consideration of the novel coronavirus cases in Europe,” HFTP said in a statement. “It was found to be in the best interest of the health and safety of attendees, exhibitors and HFTP staff and board members to postpone the event. However, HFTP has no plans to cancel or postpone HITEC San Antonio at this time. It was concluded that the growing number of cases in Europe posed a greater concern to the success of HITEC Europe than the number of cases in the regional United States are currently posing to that of HITEC San Antonio.”

HITEC San Antonio is scheduled for June 15-18, 2020 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. HFTP has extended the final payment deadline to April 1 to accommodate its exhibitors that may be impacted by the novel coronavirus. “HFTP is diligently monitoring the status of the growing global health concerns surrounding the novel coronavirus—especially with regard to its impact on the hospitality industry and meetings & events industry worldwide. Of course, HFTP will continue to monitor the situation as it develops in the time leading up to June, and will keep in contact with exhibitors should anything change,” the association said in a statement.

With the event still planned to take place as originally scheduled, no reimbursement policies for HITEC San Antonio exhibitors are currently in place.
