Giri Hotels acquires Anchorage by the Sea in ME

Giri Hotels has acquired Anchorage by the Sea, a waterfront hotel located in Ogunquit, ME.

Situated on the ocean and the Marginal Way, the hotel has 249 rooms and offers amenities including ocean access, heated indoor and outdoor pools, an on-site restaurant and bar and hot tub. Guests can enjoy a variety of activities right from the property, such as shopping, dining and exploring local attractions like Perkins Cove or Ogunquit.

“Our family has operated hotels in the coastal Maine area for over a decade, and we have always admired Anchorage by the Sea,” said Ryan Amin, managing partner, Giri Hotels. “I felt an immediate connection with the Ramsey family [the previous owners] and found that we have the same values around guest satisfaction and how we treat our team members.”

He added, “We love Ogunquit and the surrounding region. We operate several hotels here that not only provide local jobs, but bring in a huge influx of seasonal people who support the local economy in many ways. We are proud to be instrumental in the continued economic growth of this community and plan to be here for the long term. We are continuously investing in improving and beautifying our properties to make the town more beautiful and give people a reason to visit year after year.”

Giri Hotels is based in Quincy, MA, and has 24 properties in Maine. “Anchorage by the Sea is a classic New England hotel that exemplifies what we love about Ogunquit,” said Michael Scavotto, director, operations, Giri Hotels. “Waterfront access to Maine’s unique coast, onsite restaurant and bar, and great amenities make it the perfect place to stay. This hotel has been a family-run property since 1978, and now it is coming to the Giri family.”

Earle Wason of Wason Associates Hospitality Brokerage Group negotiated the transaction, and added, “The Giri team is very professional in their approach, follow through in a timely manner, and have an experienced and knowledgeable team to handle their due diligence and transfer of operations.”
