Society Social
Society Social’s Year Round Rattan Collection features naturally woven furniture. Roxy Te, founder of Society Social, noted, “It started with a leisurely walk around Cobble Hill’s leafy, tree-lined streets. In between rows and rows of brownstones intertwined with cozy cafes, neighborhood restaurants, and only-in-Brooklyn-boutiques, we stumbled upon a delightfully quaint shop boasting a quirky collection of vintage furniture, rattan included. Inspired by these found treasures, each piece curious and unique, the Warren Street Stool was born (you guessed it, named after a favorite street in Brooklyn), then the Pineapple Street Cane Credenza (also a street in Brooklyn!) and shortly after a full collection of rattan pieces I envision will take you from brownstone to beach home in fabulous and equally familiar style.”
Te noted that rattan and woven furniture have been specialties of the family factories for more than 40 years. “This category has been a classic in our eyes for decades,” she said. “With that said, generally people have pigeon holed this category as coastal or relegated these pieces to kitschy sunrooms. Woven furniture can also be modern, retro, boho or city chic. We are delighted to see such pieces making their way back into the spotlight in a more mainstream way—we’ve always been a champion for woven furniture but now couldn’t be a better time to make a stand for our favorite natural materials. There has also been a renewed appreciation for rattan, wicker, caned, grasscloth and naturally woven furniture this past year especially. Maybe it was the resurgence of ’70s fashion or consumers’ growing interest in natural materials and their attempt to move away from plastic. The trend for naturally woven furniture has flooded Instagram in the shopping discover tab and in commercial spaces with things like rattan peacock chairs as backdrops for decor.”

Ethnicraft’s novelties collection includes dining tables, storage solutions, accessories and more.
“The novelties collection was designed to be timeless and functional, but still comfortable, whether being used in a home, office or restaurant. We wanted to create a collection that acted as a foundation in any environment,” said Alain van Havre, designer of the furniture in the collection. “We were inspired by geometric shapes, movement and patterns, as well as playing with dimension.”
