Former hospitality exec victim in Boulder shootings

Kevin Mahoney, a former COO at Stonebridge Companies, and president of Hotel Asset Management and Investment Advisors LLC, was among the 10 people killed when a gunman walked into King Soopers in Boulder, CO. He was 61.

“I am heartbroken to announce that my Dad, my hero, Kevin Mahoney, was killed in the King Soopers shooting,” Mahoney’s daughter Erika wrote on Twitter. “My dad represents all things Love. I’m so thankful he could walk me down the aisle last summer. I am now pregnant. I know he wants me to be strong for his granddaughter. I love you forever Dad. You are always with me.”

Mahoney, who left Stonebridge in 2014, participated in several Hotel Business Roundtable discussions during his time with Stonebridge and Hotel Asset Management and Investment Advisors.

“It is with sadness and profound respect we mourn the loss of Kevin Mahoney, who tragically lost his life in Monday’s shooting in Boulder,” said Andy Boian, a spokesperson for Stonebridge. “Kevin was a member of the Stonebridge senior leadership team a number of years ago, serving as the company’s chief operating officer at one time. On behalf of the entire Stonebridge company, we send our heartfelt condolences to Kevin’s family, friends and neighbors, and wish them peace through the grieving process.”

Ruth Ormsby, president of RO Hotel Consulting, LLC, worked with Mahoney during what she described as an extremely difficult negotiation. “Kevin was so thoughtful, kind, professional and respectful during all of these negotiations,” she said. “Even during difficult professional negotiations, the guy was always a consummate professional. He never lost his cool. I think the world of him. He is just one of those guys that had a great reputation.”
