Davidson Hospitality Group has been chosen to manage seven hotels owned by Starwood Capital Group, while The Indigo Road Hospitality Group will manage The George Hotel in Georgetown, SC, which is expected to open next spring.

Davidson adds seven Starwood Capital hotels to portfolio
Davidson Hospitality Group has been selected by Starwood Capital Group to manage seven branded hotels under its Davidson Hotels operating vertical: Aloft San Francisco Airport, The Westin San Francisco Airport, Le Méridien Atlanta Perimeter, Sheraton Memphis Downtown, Sheraton Columbus at Capitol Square, DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Columbus Downtown and Embassy Suites by Hilton Nashville Downtown (set to open this summer).

“We’ve had a highly successful past with Starwood Capital and are excited to reignite our partnership with these assets,” said Thom Geshay, CEO/president, Davidson Hospitality Group. “Starwood Capital is one of the largest investors in the hospitality space and we look forward to growing with them. These assets have great upside, and—together with Starwood Capital’s exceptional asset management team—we will leverage strategic new investment and stronger operational performance to produce compelling new values for these properties.”

Rob Tanenbaum, managing director, head of North American hotel asset management, Starwood Capital, said, “Davidson has nearly 50 years of industry expertise and an unparalleled reputation for value creation, revenue generation and innovation. It is important we have great synergy with our partners—Davidson’s approach to hospitality resonates with us, and we feel they are the best operator to help advance the competitive positioning of these assets while enhancing guest experience.”

Indigo Road to manage The George Hotel
The Indigo Road Hospitality Group (IRHG) has added The George Hotel, which is currently under construction in Georgetown, SC, to its growing family of boutique hotels. In addition to operating the hotel, IRHG will manage the property’s outdoor bar, full-service restaurant and catering operations.

“The George marks Indigo Road’s first hotel in our beautiful home state of South Carolina,” said Larry Spelts, president, lodging & lifestyle adventures, IRHG. “Halfway between Myrtle Beach and Charleston, historic downtown Georgetown is the home to not only dozens of carefully preserved historic sites but also the city’s vibrant waterfront, as it’s located on the captivating Winyah Bay.”

Once completed, The George will have 56 rooms; a full-service restaurant and bar on the Front St. side of the property; a waterfront event space and bar; and an activity lawn for lounging, games and events. The hotel will also have direct marina access.

Joe Keenan of Winyah Hospitality LLC is serving as the developer of the project, which began in February. The demolition of the building currently at 615 Front St., which Winyah Hospitality purchased from Georgetown Times in August 2021, is underway. The property is slated to open in early spring 2023.
