Boyd Gaming upgrading in-room entertainment, WiFi with Cox Business-HN

Boyd Gaming Corporation has entered into an agreement with Cox Business and Hospitality Network (Cox-HN) to outfit all of its Las Vegas properties with premium connectivity services to enhance the guest experience from its hotel rooms to the casino floor.

As part of the agreement, Cox’s new in-room entertainment (IRE) solution will be implemented in more than 6,000 Boyd hotel rooms nationwide by mid-2022, giving guests access to their favorite programming like Netflix, video-on-demand (VOD) and free-to-guest (FTG) HD channels.

Cox is also providing a significant upgrade to public and hotel room WiFi capabilities at Boyd properties nationwide. Cox’s WiFi ethernet and digital subscriber line (DSL) devices will provide connectivity property-wide with more than 2,500 wireless access points—allowing guests to enjoy high-energy gaming experiences on the casino floor and faster internet from the lobby to their rooms, resulting in a truly connected experience at every point across the property.

“At Boyd Gaming, we strive to consistently exceed our guests’ expectations—and providing a high-quality digital experience is a critical part of achieving that goal,” said David Strow, VP, corporate communications, Boyd Gaming. “This partnership with Cox will allow us to provide our guests with high-speed WiFi connectivity across our properties, and high-quality video entertainment in our hotel rooms. It will make our guest experience even more memorable and enjoyable, and help Boyd Gaming stand out from the competition.”

The upgrade is part of a longstanding relationship between the two companies. “[We] are ecstatic over the new agreement with Boyd Gaming,” said Jady West, VP, hospitality, Cox-HN. “…This deal both solidifies and advances that relationship. We cannot wait to install and implement the world-class in-room entertainment and WiFi experiences the Boyd Gaming team wants to offer their guests. As the travel sector’s recovery gains momentum Cox-HN will help ensure Boyd Gaming properties are prepared for the return of tech-savvy travelers who expect seamless connectivity and entertainment experiences when they travel.”

Fast WiFi is extremely important to the gaming industry. “The gaming industry is rapidly changing and starting to require reliable connectivity to properly enjoy each feature,” said Strow. “Further, guests almost always expect reliable internet in the comfort of their rooms to stay connected while enjoying their vacation. As an added bonus, the rooms are filled with digital enhancements that bring an entertainment aspect to their stay. From access to  premium streaming services to free-to-guest HD channels, guests can get a whole new home-like experience from their rooms.”
