Biran Patel lands new job; more personnel moves

Executives in the hospitality industry have taken on new roles. Here’s a look:

Biran Patel joins Marcus & Millichap
Marcus & Millichap Inc., a leading commercial real estate brokerage firm specializing in investment sales, financing, research and advisory services, has hired Biran Patel as SVP/national director of the firm’s hospitality division. He is for overseeing the hospitality division, which focuses exclusively on providing investment advisory and transaction services for hospitality, lodging, resort, marina and golf properties.

Most recently, Patel served as an officer for AAHOA since 2017 and as chairman from 2020 through 2021.

“The hospitality industry has been an integral part of my life,” said Patel. “I spent my childhood being exposed to every aspect of the business at my family’s hotels. By learning from the ground up, I have a unique perspective of the intricacies associated with a successfully run hotel and have utilized this knowledge throughout my professional career. I’m excited about bringing my breadth of hospitality experience and business acumen to Marcus & Millichap.”

Sherif Guirguis named Lodging Dynamics COO
Hotel management company Lodging Dynamics Hospitality Group has appointed Sherif Guirguis as its new COO.

He spent nearly 25 years with Marriott International, where he served in general manager, regional and area executive roles, and oversaw all aspects of hotel operations and owner relations. His experience extends across full-service, select-service and extended-stay brands and properties. Following Marriott, he served as VP of regional operations for White Lodging Services, followed by overseeing the operations of Silverwest Hotels. At White Lodging and Silverwest, Guirguis worked with many premium hotel brands including Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott brands.

Summit COO to retire
Summit Hotel Properties Inc. has revealed that Craig J. Aniszewski, its EVP/COO, plans to retire from the company on March 1. In his 25 years with Summit and its predecessor, Aniszewski has been integral to the company’s success through his leadership of Summit’s operations, design and construction functions.

“I want to sincerely thank Craig for his tremendous contributions to our growth and success over the years and wish him the very best in retirement,” said Jonathan P. Stanner, president/CEO, Summit Hotel Properties. “Craig’s ability to produce results and develop his team has been exceptional and I’ve been privileged to have him as a partner. We are fortunate to have two highly qualified and experienced individuals being promoted as part of the succession plan for Craig. I look forward to continuing to work closely with Larry Trowbridge and Greg James to ensure a successful and seamless transition.”

Trowbridge, SVP, construction, who leads the company’s design and construction functions, and James, SVP,  asset management, who leads the company’s asset management and revenue strategy functions, have been with the Summit and its predecessor for nearly 20 years and 15 years, respectively, and each provide more than 30 years of industry experience. Together, they will continue to build on Aniszewski’s achievements in developing and leading a top asset management team, proprietary revenue strategy platform and in-house design and construction capabilities.
