INTERNATIONAL REPORT—Hotel Equities, Sage Hospitality Group and Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group have all added to their portfolios of managed hotels. Here’s a look:
Hotel Equities to Operate Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Fort Myers, FL
Hotel Equities has been selected as the management firm to operate the new-build Holiday Inn Express & Suites Fort Myers Airport hotel in Florida. The property will have 101 guestrooms and suites and is being developed by ownership group Shivam Soham LLC. The hotel is proximate to Southwest Florida International Airport. The anticipated opening date is scheduled for early 2021. The fully equipped guestrooms offer a variety of configurations and additional amenities include a swimming pool, board room and fitness center. The design incorporates safety and cleanliness measures with reduced contact at check-in, in addition to touchless transactions, sanitizing stations and regular deep-cleaning of high-touch surfaces and high-traffic areas. The property is also close to Rockstar Harley Davidson, Legends Golf and Country Club and Olde Hickory Golf and Country Club.
Hotel Equities and Berry College Break Ground on Marriott Branded Hotel
Berry College held its groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction on the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott hotel adjacent to the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, GA. The hotel will be managed by Hotel Equities, who will provide development services throughout the hotel’s construction phase. Construction is expected to be complete in fall 2021. The hotel development aligns with the college’s focus on creating new revenue streams to support its educational mission, provide opportunities for student learning and employment and contribute to the economic vitality of Rome. The new hotel is expected to recapture revenue from business previously lost to nearby cities because of a lack of accommodations in the area.
Sage Hospitality Group Adds Continuum Hotel to its Portfolio
Sage Hospitality Group has added Continuum, a boutique independent hotel in Teton Village, WY, to its portfolio of managed properties. Continuum is located at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in the heart of Teton Village and close to the resort’s aerial tram. The 90-room property underwent a complete renovation and expansion, led by Powerstrip Studio designers Dayna Lee and Ted Berner and Prospect Studio architects John Carney and Danny Wicke, reopening as Continuum in December 2019. The hotel has rooms and lofts; an outdoor heated pool and hot tub; and a lobby bar that serves as a social hub for Teton Village.
Mandarin Oriental to Manage and Rebrand Zurich Hotel
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will manage and rebrand the historic Savoy Baur en Ville hotel in Zurich, from 2024. The hotel is currently managed by Credit Suisse. In 2022, the hotel will close and undergo a comprehensive two-year renovation. Upon completion of the renovation in 2024, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will manage and rebrand the property as Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich. The hotel will have 80 guestrooms and suites and three dining outlets, comprising an all-day dining venue, a speciality restaurant and a lobby lounge. The renovation will enhance conference and event facilities, including a grand historic ballroom. In addition, a state-of-the-art fitness center will be installed. French interior designer Tristan Auer has been appointed to oversee the full design.
