A Look at Hotels Opening in the Heartland

NATIONAL REPORT—The country’s heartland is now the home to five new hotels. Brands are expanding in Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois and Nebraska:

Dual-Branded Hyatt Opens in Indianapolis
HRI Properties LLC (HRIP) and Hyatt have opened Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels in the Wholesale District of Indianapolis. Developed and constructed by HRI Properties, the dual-branded properties are both managed by HRI Lodging. This will be the first Hyatt House hotel to open in the state of Indiana. The 15-story building offers a single lobby serving both the 186-room Hyatt Place hotel and 130-room Hyatt House hotel. Amenities include valet parking, more than 6,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting and event space, indoor swimming pool and fitness facilities, a second-floor indoor/outdoor lobby bar and more than 13,000 sq. ft. of ground floor retail space.

Courtyard by Marriott to Open in Speedway, IN
Courtyard by Marriott Indianapolis West-Speedway is scheduled to open this Friday. The 97-room hotel will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned and managed by MHG Hotels of Indianapolis. The property is close to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Lucas Oil Raceway, Eagle Creek Park, the Indiana Convention Center, Lucas Oil Stadium, Marian University and the Indianapolis Zoo. The four-story hotel has an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center and guest laundry and offers a meeting room with 1,200 sq. ft. of space.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Comes to Grand Rapids, MI
Embassy Suites by Hilton has opened a new-build in downtown Grand Rapids, MI. The Embassy Suites by Hilton Grand Rapids Downtown is located in the Monroe North neighborhood. The hotel is close to DeVos Place Convention Center, Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids Art Museum and numerous restaurants and breweries. Owned and managed by Suburban Inns, this upscale all-suite hotel has 250 two-room and studio suites. The hotel also offers six flexible meeting spaces to accommodate up to 250 guests, a 24-hour convenience market, a 24-hour business center, a 24-hour fitness center and an indoor pool with an indoor/outdoor spa.

Emery Opens in Minneapolis After Rebrand
Emery, has opened in Minneapolis following a full transformation and rebrand from Hotel Minneapolis, with design led by Studio Mai. The 10-story, 229-room property, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection is nearby city attractions such as the U.S. Bank Stadium and Target Field. The hotel is managed by Pivot Hotels & Resorts, the luxury lifestyle division of Davidson Hotels & Resorts. Amenities include a new restaurant, a coffee beverage outlet and 4,500 sq. ft. of meeting space.

Hampton Inn & Suites to Open Near Downtown Chicago
Chicago-based First Hospitality Group Inc.’s (FHG) owned and managed Hampton Inn & Suites Chicago Bridgeview hotel, located in Bridgeview, IL is slated for completion in May. Located on the grounds of SeatGeek Stadium (previously Toyota Park), the four-story Hampton Inn & Suites Chicago Bridgeview hotel will include 109 guestrooms, a fitness room, indoor pool and 483 sq. ft. of meeting space. The hotel is close to Chicago Midway International Airport and downtown Chicago.

My Place Hotels Expands in Hastings, NE
My Place Hotels has opened in Hastings, NE. The hotel is close to Lake Hastings Park and Hastings Museum. The location is also close to the developing North Park Commons which is proximate to several retail and dining options. The hotel is independently owned by DJ&R Investments LLC., and operated by Venerts Hotel Management Inc. It is the first extended-stay hotel in the area and the first My Place Hotel developed by the DJ&R partnership. The hotel was constructed by Celtic Services Inc.
