A Look At Five U.S. Developments

NATIONAL REPORT—Properties are shaping up across the country. From new-builds in the North to brands expanding in the South, here’s more on the developments shaping up:

St. Louis New-Build Underway

The KAI Design & Build/HBD Construction Inc. team has been selected to build one of the first new hotels in downtown St. Louis in years—Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott. With access to downtown St. Louis businesses and attractions, the hotel will be suitable for business and leisure travelers, and is expected to open in early 2020.

St. Louis­-based Equis Hotels is the developer on the $20-million hotel and parking garage project, with Chiodini Architects of St. Louis providing its design and Peak Construction Group serving as the construction manager. KAI Design & Build/HBD Construction is the general contractor.

The new hotel will have 136 rooms and suites, 2,000 sq. ft. of meeting rooms, a lobby lounge and bar, complimentary Wi­Fi, free breakfast, fitness center, outdoor patio, business center and shuttle service.

Sbe Continues Growth in Florida

Sbe has entered a partnership with PPG Development and its principal Ari Pearl to continue expansion of the SLS brand in South Florida with SLS Resort Residence & Marina Hallandale Beach. This announcement comes on the heels of AccorHotels’ recent acquisition of a 50% stake in sbe.

SLS Resort Residence & Marina Hallandale Beach will mark the 12th sbe resort and 4th SLS-branded property in South Florida. Set to open in 2022, the project will have 290 rooms, including 50 condo/hotel units, 250 branded apartments and sbe’s award-winning Katsuya and S Bar food and beverage concepts. The property will also include sbe’s mixology lounge and a three-meal restaurant concept.

SLS Resort Residence & Marina Hallandale Beach will take over the previous Diplomat Golf & Tennis Club with additional new construction. The $220-million project will encompass an 18-hole championship golf course, a 10-court tennis complex and a 48-slip Marina.

Cambria to Open Near Tech Town

Choice Hotels International Inc. has signed an agreement with an affiliate of HB Capital Management LLC, to develop a Cambria Hotel in Alpharetta, GA. The five-story, 144-room upscale hotel is slated to open in 2020.

The Cambria Hotel in Alpharetta is a mixed-use development by Alpharetta-based developer Mayfair Street Partners, known as “Mayfair at Webb Bridge.” Alpharetta, which is recognized as the “Technology City of the South,” includes a quarter of metropolitan Atlanta’s top-25 tech employers, such as the Microsoft Technology Center, LexisNexis Risk Solutions and ADP.

The Cambria Hotel in Alpharetta will have on-site dining options, an indoor swimming pool, meeting space and a fitness center.

YotelPad Expands With Ski Destination Property

Yotel, in partnership with Replay Destinations, reveals its second YotelPad project at U.S. mountain resort Mammoth. The opening of YotelPad Mammoth in 2021 will be the third of its kind in the U.S. with both YotelPad Miami and Park City opening in 2020.  

Following the the first YotelPad project in Park City, UT, YotelPad Mammoth will cater to the Southern California market and will be located adjacent to the Village at Mammoth. YotelPad Mammoth will have 177 units, including 21 ‘town-homes’. The design and development of YotelPad offers compact luxury serviced apartments, known as ‘Pads.’

YotelPad Mammoth will have an indoor/outdoor experience, featuring numerous fire pit areas, a hot tub, and an outdoor pool. The pool deck will connect to indoor social spaces, which will include areas for relaxing, coworking and informal gatherings, and will feature a lobby fireplace, games room, kids’ zone and restaurant and bar.

Main Street Hospitality Grows in Northeast With Boutique Development

Main Street Hospitality Group has been named as the management partner for the new Hammetts Wharf hotel development on the waterfront in Newport, RI. This marks the company’s first step outside of Massachusetts as it pursues growth throughout the Northeast.

When completed in the spring of 2020, the $29-million development will include an 84-room boutique hotel to be managed by Main Street Hospitality, as well as a 4,000-sq.-ft. restaurant and 3,000 sq. ft. of retail space. Developed by Peregrine Group LLC, Hammetts Wharf is located on the waterfront adjacent to the Newport Yachting Center, a recent Peregrine Group project.

Amenities of Hammetts Wharf boutique hotel will include seasonal valet parking, a full-service waterfront restaurant, fitness center, flexible gathering spaces and a private deck for hotel guests.
